Our mission, vision and guiding principles

Barclays Wealth visiting Glasgow Wood Recycling Project - a project they've helped to fund

Our Vision
The leading philanthropy organisation in Scotland - for stronger communities

Our Mission
To inspire giving for Scotland - which improves lives

Our Guiding Principles:

1.  We are passionate about philanthropy
We believe philanthropy and charitable giving is important and rewarding for all our donors. Donors from all walks of life work with us to learn about groups and communities, finding the best ways to make a difference. We work flexibly with them and enrich their giving.

2.  We work closely with our communities
We research charities and grassroots projects to target funds effectively. We consult and partner with communities to manage funds. We engage with funders and policymakers. Creating space for dialogue we connect donors, organisations and other partners.

3.  We are professional and respected
We are reputable stewards of donor and community funds and are committed to being accessible and inclusive, transparent and accountable. We are efficient and cost effective. With pride in our national reputation we endeavour to be a role model.

4.  We learn actively and share what we know
We have leading knowledge and expertise, and extraordinary opportunities to continue learning. We evaluate the opportunities for funding and its impact. Reflecting on our experience and practice we seek improvement and we share learning with others.

5.  We have a long-term view
Sustainability applies to all our relationships, our donor services and our grantmaking. Whether funds are for impact now or for the future we seek out effective projects, to sustain what works and explore new solutions. We are strategic, yet responsive, and believe that our long-term view strengthens local organisations and communities.
