Fiona ‘retired’ early from full time employment in March 2004. Prior to that, she had been a partner in PA Consulting Group, was a senior director in EDS (a global IT outsourcing company) and latterly a Director of Wood Mackenzie, the Edinburgh headquartered research and consulting house.

Fiona is continuing to put her consulting skills to work on an ad hoc basis with different commercial organisations, but she wants to use her time to ‘give something back’ by focussing her time on charitable work. She has recently been appointed to the Executive Committee of Tweeddale Association of Voluntary Organisations and is currently looking at a series of volunteer opportunities around her home base of Peebles.

Fiona is married to Ken and enjoys travel, friends, the outdoors, reading, films and music.

David was a director of his family's whisky business, Glenmorangie, until it was sold in 2004.

• Keith PunlerDevelopment Committee

Keith Punler was founder and chief executive of award winning luxury housebuilder the Manor Kingdom Group Ltd. which was sold in October 2004.

Keith was nominated as Young Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000, and as Scottish Entrepreneur of the year in 2001.

Giles became Chief Executive of the Foundation in 2004. He has twenty years experience in the voluntary and education sectors, primarily in the development of excluded young people, formerly working for UK charities such as Barnardo’s and Fairbridge. He has a wealth of experience in matching donor’s interests with local charities and is applying this to increase the Foundation’s role in strengthening communities across Scotland.

In his spare time, Giles likes to put his body to the test by taking part in various adventure sports, and has completed the 54 mile Caledonian Challenge in under twelve hours!

• Lady Emily StairTrustee, and Development Committee

Emily is a co-founder of the Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust. Established in 2002 to recognise individuals who make exceptional contributions to charity, it was described by former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown MP, as the 'Nobel Prize of the Charity Sector'.

Emily first become involved with philanthropy and the voluntary sector in 1997, working with Pilotlight, and the Institute of Philanthropy. Previously she worked as head of marketing and communications for the Science Museum, and with Saatchi & Saatchi.

• Gillian DonaldTrustee

Gillian is a partner in Scott-Moncrieff Chartered Accountants and heads up its charity team specialising in a wide range of governance and business support for charities. She is convener of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland Charities Committee and lectures in charity accounts and audit, and is a non-executive director of several Scottish charities. She was a member of the Audit Practices Board Working Party that reviewed the Practice Note for Charities.

• Ian McAteerTrustee, and Development Committee

Ian is the Group Chairman of The Union, one of the UK’s leading regional agencies. A former Barrister, Ian was previously a Director of Saatchi & Saatchi London and Faulds Advertising in Edinburgh before setting up The Union in 1996 with three partners. Today The Union is Scotland’s leading creative agency delivering 360 degree communications for a wide range of clients. In 2007, The Union was named IPA Scottish Effectiveness Agency of the Year, and in 2008 it was named Marketing Services Company of the Year by the Marketing Society, and Agency of the Year at the Scottish Advertising Awards.

Ian sits on the Scottish IPA’s Committee, and is a Fellow of both the IPA and the Marketing Society. Ian is a Trustee of Project Scotland, a Governor of Cargilfield Prep School and is currently serving a two year term as Chairman of the international agency network, WorldwidePartners, Inc.
