Stafford Trust
The Stafford Trust was set up by Gay Ramsey-Steel-Maitland, an elderly lady who had inherited large tracts of land and many properties in central Scotland. The Trust was set up in 1991 to benefit people in need in the Stirling area. Mrs Ramsey-Steel-Maitland was very active in finding suitable beneficiaries, and when she died, the three remaining trustees were not so well placed to identify beneficiaries.
The Trustees decided to award an annual sum for a three-year period to the Foundation to be distributed to appropriate beneficiary groups. The Foundation makes recommendations to the trustees who retain ultimate control of where money is allocated.
