Drumderg: stART festival

The Drumderg Community Benefit Fund is a fantastic source of funding for local communities. The stART Festival committee really appreciates the money it’s been awarded.

Ann Bailey, stART Festival Committee

We secured a grant of £5,000 from the Drumderg Fund to run a series of community arts workshops for all members of the community. The activities range from pottery, to willow weaving, and ukulele playing.

The ukulele workshops were so successful that two local groups have now formed as an adult and school band. The Drumderg Panel has since supported the after-school youth band to continue in Alyth and the development of a new band in the Kirkmichael primary school. The school and community ukulele orchestra sounds wonderful. There is a lot of enthusiasm from the school children and adults involved.

The workshops culminated in a large procession and open air concert in Alyth. Over a 1,000 local people got involved with the event.
