Charitable trust alternative
Many people think about setting up a private charitable trust, perhaps to support a cause close to their heart, or to remember a loved one.
However, private trusts can fall foul of many things, including weighty administration, waning enthusiasm of trustees, and the burden of legal fees.
The Scottish Community Foundation, however, offers an alternative that gives you complete control of your giving; matches your charitable aims to suitable projects, and takes care of all the paperwork. A Scottish Community Foundation fund is a cost effective and flexible solution, which allows you to:
- start a fund from as little as £1,000 a year
- select the projects and/or geographical area you would like to support
- choose the name your fund, for example, the Joe Bloggs Memorial Fund
- choose your level of involvement in your chosen project e.g. visits benefit from tax advantages
- have piece of mind that fund administration complies with charity regulations.
However, that’s just the beginning – a charitable fund gives you the potential to do a lot more (see Our Services).
