Developing your giving
The Foundation offers both annual and endowed fund holders the option to get involved with our open award programme which supports the myriad of fantastic projects that apply to the Scottish Community Foundation for funding.
Allocating a proportion of your funding to our open award programme can make your philanthropic giving more interactive and rewarding, for you and the charities you support.
The open award programme works as follows:
- We promote the availability of your named fund with details of the criteria you set, and seek applications from charities and community groups to match. We then manage enquiries from eligible parties and provide them with an application form.
- For all applications, a qualified grants officer will interview applicants and produce written assessments covering: strengths, project reach, leadership, financial health, and take into account other charities and providers in the field. Assessment examples are available below.
- You can play an integral part in the grantmaking process, deciding on which assessed projects to support. And you can track the success of your projects through our twice yearly reporting, anytime online, and in person through project visits with Foundation staff.
- We can also provide you with a detailed evaluation of your funded projects, describing the difference your funding has made. Agreed at the outset, we agree clear goals and indicators of success for your programme, and, if desired, reports can be shared for wider impact.
- When you take part in the open award programme, we will produce a written agreement to ensure that your fund is distributed in precisely the way you intend it to be used. An agreement example is available below.
