"It’s great to know that
the money we raise will
go to help local charities
who can really make a
difference in the community." Tom Ward

The Caledonian Challenge, currently sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, is the Scottish Community Foundation's flagship event and all sponsorship raised is awarded through the Foundation's community grants programme. The Challenge comprises teams of between three to six to walk 54 miles along the West Highland Way non-stop over a 24-hour period. Each walker is asked to raise sponsorship in support of the Foundation.
The Challenge is now in its 11th year and has grown from 17 walkers raising £16,000 in 1997 to more than 1,500 walkers braving the trail in 2006 raising nearly a £1million for charity supporting the work of the Scottish Community Foundation. Projects range from youth theatres to elderly support groups, drugs advice services to healthy eating initiatives.
The 2008 Challenge will take place on the 14th and 15th June and if you would like more information about the event, the opportunities available, are interested in taking part or would like to sponsor a walker then please visit www.caledonianchallenge.com or call 0131 524 0350.
