About Us

“There are few charities where you can make such
a difference to so many – that’s why I give my time
and have a fund with the Foundation.”

Beth Edberg, Trustee

The Scottish Community Foundation was set-up in 1996 to provide funding for small charities and community groups and raises money by asking individuals, companies and charitable trusts to support communities and causes in which they have an interest.

We also raise valuable funds through our flagship event the Caledonian Challenge, currently sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, and other events, to distribute as grants to charity.

The Foundation works with a range of partners, including Sky television, Dunfermline Building Society, Comic Relief and The BIG Lottery Fund.

Since our inception we have awarded over £14M in grants ranging from as little as £50 to as much as £200,000, to support community activity throughout Scotland.
