Scotland-wide grants

Indepen-Dance, Glasgow

The Foundation’s Community Grants programme offers one-off awards of between £250 and £5,000 to charities and community groups across Scotland.

Community Grants awards are made up of money from the many different funds we distribute on behalf of companies, individuals and charitable trusts (see A-Z of funds) as well as money raised by participants in the Foundation’s fundraising events the Caledonian Challenge and the Caledonian 100. We match the applications we receive to the criteria of the various funds we have available at any time. These criteria determine which parts of Scotland, or which types of project any particular fund can be used for.

Because of the wide range of funds we manage we are able to support the activities of many different kinds of community groups and charities across Scotland and we welcome applications from any suitably constituted not-for-profit group. (You do not need to be a registered charity to apply.) However, in some cases, we are unable to award a Community Grant, even if we have positively assessed an application, since we may not have a fund that can support it.

The type of project we currently have most funding for is women’s projects, thanks to the Women’s Fund for Scotland and the Volant Charitable Trust. In addition to Community Grants up to £5K, we are able to make a limited number of larger grants of up to £30K to projects supporting disadvantaged women and their children from the Volant Charitable Trust Fund.
