Sport Relief grants
In the UK, Sport Relief fund’s projects that use sport and exercise to strengthen communities and provide opportunities for people who are excluded or disadvantaged.
This may be through low income, rural or social isolation, age, disability, race, sexuality or gender. Sport Relief is not simply about supporting sports activities or helping sports clubs expand; it's about helping organisations that want to use sport and exercise to work with disadvantaged or excluded people and improve their quality of life.
Since 2005, the Scottish Community Foundation has awarded over £600,000 in grants to groups working in this way. The funds were provided by Comic Relief from money raised in Sport Relief events in 2004 and 2006. The closing date for the latest programme was 11th August 2008 and we will not be accepting further applications for Sport Relief grants for the foreseeable future.
Information about any future Sport Relief grants from the Foundation will be published here in 2009. For more information about Sport Relief, visit the website.
Applications for grants of up to £5,000 to support projects that use sport to tackle disadvantage or build stronger communities can still be made to our general grants programme, Community Grants.
