Success stories

The Foundation undertakes a range of initiatives to pursue its vision of strong, successful communities.

Learning is a key focus - to help us understand the needs of Scotland’s communities and how to make them stronger. We aim to share the things we learn with the organisations we fund, communities, other funders, policy makers, and our donors and supporters. Information and reports will be available from this section of our website.

Previously, such initiatives have tended to take the form of strategic funding programmes, focusing resources on particular themes or communities. In the case of the Fair Share Trust, we have been working since 2004 in 13 communities, facilitating a process where local people themselves have identified local issues and devised a strategic approach to tackling them with funds from the Foundation.

In future, we expect to expand our activities in this area, for instance by convening local stakeholders and funders in Dundee to discuss strategies for addressing the issue of young people’s sexual health in the city. The aim is to support a more informed and strategic use of resources – our own and others’.
